ईश्वर के नाम का जाप

Despite the passage of so many years, the names of great saints  are still remembered and revered. The true reason for this is their deep and unwavering devotion to the name of God. We trust the teachings of these saints, and we too wish to develop such love for divine chanting. But we must ask ourselves why this affection does not arise in our hearts.The saints described God’s name as being sweeter than even nectar — beyond comparison. When such a supreme thing doesn’t stir love in us, it suggests that something within us is blocking that connection. Just like when someone cannot taste the sweetness of sugar, we don’t blame the sugar — we assume the person’s tongue is the issue. Similarly, if we don’t feel the joy of chanting, the fault likely lies within us.

People often give various excuses for not developing love for the divine name. Ask someone, “Why don’t you feel drawn to chanting?” and they might reply, “I’m still unmarried. Once I get married and have a settled life, I will focus on devotion.” But how many married people with children truly feel that divine love?Another person may say, “I’m struggling financially, so I can’t focus on God’s name.” But then, how many wealthy individuals actually have a deep connection with God?Some blame their family responsibilities, illness, or workload. Others feel tired of worldly life and think that renouncing everything will bring them divine peace. Some even consider suicide, unable to bear life’s burdens.

In short, no matter the situation, people point to their circumstances as the reason for their disinterest in God’s name. But are circumstances really to blame? That’s something worth pondering.In truth, the core reason we lack love for chanting is that we don’t genuinely feel a heartfelt need for God. The desire for God is a true blessing — only when we sincerely long for Him will the path to Him reveal itself.The sweetness of His name is so divine that once someone experiences it, they forget all else — even themselves. That is why we should dedicate ourselves completely to the remembrance of God’s name.

इतने वर्षों के बीत जाने के बावजूद, संत  महापुरुषों के नाम आज भी पूजनीय हैं। इसका मुख्य कारण यह है कि उन्होंने भगवान के नाम से गहरा और सच्चा प्रेम किया। हम भी उनके उपदेशों पर विश्वास करते हैं और चाहते हैं कि वैसा ही नाम-स्मरण का भाव हमारे भीतर भी जागे। लेकिन हमें खुद से यह सवाल पूछना चाहिए कि वह भावना हमारे दिल में क्यों नहीं उठती?संतों ने ईश्वर के नाम को अमृत से भी अधिक मधुर बताया है — जिसे किसी भी दूसरी चीज़ से तुलना नहीं की जा सकती। जब ऐसा दिव्य नाम हमें आकर्षित नहीं करता, तो इसका मतलब है कि हमारी चेतना में ही कोई रुकावट है। जैसे अगर कोई चीनी खाए और उसे मीठा न लगे, तो हम चीनी को दोष नहीं देते, बल्कि मानते हैं कि उसकी जीभ में ही कोई समस्या है। वैसे ही अगर हमें नाम-स्मरण में आनंद नहीं मिलता, तो दोष हमारे अंदर ही छुपा है।अधिकतर लोग नाम से प्रेम न हो पाने के कई बहाने बनाते हैं। कोई कहता है, “मेरा अभी विवाह नहीं हुआ है, जब परिवार बस जाएगा, तब भक्ति करूँगा।” लेकिन क्या सभी विवाहित लोग ईश्वर से प्रेम करते हैं?कोई कहता है, “मेरे पास धन नहीं है, इसीलिए मैं ध्यान नहीं लगा पाता।” पर क्या सभी अमीर लोगों ने ईश्वर को पा लिया है?कुछ लोग परिवार, बीमारी, खेत-खलिहान जैसी जिम्मेदारियों को कारण बताते हैं। कुछ लोग संसार से ऊब कर संन्यास की बात करते हैं। और कुछ तो जीवन की पीड़ा से तंग आकर आत्महत्या की सोचते हैं।हर कोई अपनी स्थिति को भक्ति में बाधा मानता है। लेकिन क्या वास्तव में हालात इसके लिए ज़िम्मेदार हैं? इस पर गहराई से सोचने की ज़रूरत है।असल में, हमें नाम का प्रेम इसलिए नहीं होता क्योंकि हमारे दिल में भगवान की सच्ची प्यास नहीं है। भगवान की सच्ची चाहत होना अपने आप में एक महान सौभाग्य है। जब यह लगने लगे कि “भगवान चाहिए” — तभी उनके मिलने की राह अपने-आप खुल जाती है।भगवान के नाम की मिठास इतनी अनोखी है कि जो एक बार उसका स्वाद ले लेता है, वह खुद को भी भूल जाता है। इसलिए हमें पूरी तरह से भगवान के नाम में समर्पित हो जाना चाहिए।
