Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
When I was working at my first job, whenever my boss or any senior assigned me a task, I would quickly find some reason to avoid it. In my mind, I would think — this is not my responsibility, this is not something I usually do, so why should I? I would often give reasons like, “This isn’t my job,” “I don’t know how to do this,” or “I don’t have time for it.”
One day, one of my seniors noticed this. He called me aside and very kindly, patiently explained something to me. He said:
“Dear, all this work — whether small or big — we have to do it, because everything has already been decided by God. Who will do what, who will be where, who will face what difficulty — everything is part of a greater plan. We are only here to perform the roles we’ve been given. When we refuse a task, we aren’t just saying no to a person, but we are denying what destiny or God has sent our way. Whenever God gives us any work — whether easy or difficult — we should do it sincerely and wholeheartedly, because it’s meant for us. It’s there for us to learn, grow, and prepare ourselves for the future.”
Those simple yet profound words left a deep impact on me. I realized that every task is an opportunity. Behind every responsibility, there’s something to learn, to understand, to experience. Sometimes, God teaches us valuable lessons through small, unexpected situations.
Since that day, I started thinking twice before refusing any work. No task is too small or unimportant — it comes to us for a reason, to teach us something at the right time. We just need to play our part sincerely.
Even today, whenever I face a tough or unfamiliar task, I remember those words from my senior:
“Everything is already decided… you just have to perform your role.”
