In today’s era, the Divine Name itself is the incarnation of God. As mentioned in the Grantha, the Lord has proclaimed — “For the protection of the righteous and the destruction of the wicked, I manifest myself.” From this, it’s understood that both the virtuous and the wicked have always existed, and it is precisely the oppression of the good by the wicked that brings about God’s incarnation.

However, looking around in the present times, it seems that the truly virtuous have become exceedingly rare. In other words, those who would suffer at the hands of the wicked and for whose protection God would incarnate — such righteous souls have almost disappeared. Then, for whom should the Divine descend? Does this mean an incarnation won’t happen? Not necessarily — but this situation reveals the present state of the world.

There’s a stark difference between the conditions of ancient times and those of today. In the past, good intentions and virtues were alive, though expressing them through actions was difficult. Now, even those noble tendencies have disappeared — the very foundation has crumbled, and when the foundation is missing, the question of righteous actions doesn’t even arise.

In those earlier times, though people couldn’t act rightly, virtuous tendencies still survived in subtle form, and it was during such periods that God had to incarnate in a visible, tangible form to set things right. But today, the challenge is not in visible actions — it lies in reviving those lost virtues, in transforming intentions. That’s a subtle, internal task. And just as the remedy must suit the nature of the disease — a thorn must be removed by another thorn — only something equally powerful can uproot negative tendencies. That powerful force is the Divine Name.

If there’s any incarnation capable of navigating today’s situation, it is the incarnation of God’s Name. It is necessary for everyone to call out the Lord’s Name in unison. This task cannot be carried out by God assuming a physical form now; since the problem itself is subtle and inward, the solution too must be subtle — hence, the need for a Name-incarnation in this age.

Each utterance of the Divine Name is itself an incarnation. Clinging to the Name, repeating it with faith — this is our primary duty today. By doing so, the Divine Name will work its miracle. We have attached our love and desires to worldly affairs; now, we must redirect that love towards the Name. Once the mind becomes immersed in the sweetness of the Divine Name, and develops a deep, unshakable love for it — that is when life finds true fulfillment.

The power of the Divine Name alone can defeat the dark influence of this Kali age. Therefore, those who hold firmly to the Name are protected from its harm
