There’s no sense in asking “How will one meet God just by saying ‘wish mame’?” In fact, it’s more accurate to say that without saying ‘wish name’, meeting God is not even possible. This is something we also observe in daily life.
For instance, imagine you want to travel to a certain village. You go to the railway station and describe everything about the place—what it looks like, who lives there, the climate—but if you can’t tell the name of the village, will you be able to get a ticket? Probably not. On the other hand, even if you don’t know any details about the place, but you know its name, you can still get a ticket and reach there. This shows that even though all other information may be there, without the name, it’s useless.
From this, one clear truth emerges: if everything else is done but the divine Name is not remembered, it’s all in vain. Therefore, chanting the divine Name is essential. One must have complete faith that remembering God’s Name will lead to experiencing the Divine.
There are two reasons why remembering God’s Name is necessary: first, to understand the true nature of worldly life; and second, to attain the Divine. Even if a person has all material comforts—enough food, a family, a home—there is still some worry or inner unrest that remains unexplained. This is because the root of sorrow is not clearly understood. To recognize this, the remembrance of God’s Name is needed.
Until the longing for God awakens, we must practice taking His Name. Later, when we reach a state where nothing but God feels dependable, we continue the practice. And finally, once the Divine is truly realized, the remembrance of His Name becomes an effortless habit. From beginning to end, the Divine Name alone remains constant. Whoever sincerely remembers the Name and stays connected with it will naturally develop a deep curiosity and love for the Divine.
Even if you don’t fully understand its power at first, take the Name anyway—you will come to realize that God resides within it. Trust that whatever happens while chanting the Name will be good for you and lead to your spiritual well-being.
The Name of the Divine is nothing less than the eternal Truth itself—blissful, conscious, and real. One who becomes so immersed in God’s Name that they forget themselves is truly free while still alive. This is the real goal of life. Everything else should be seen as fleeting, like a dream—something that seems real, but is not. Our identification with the body has formed slowly over time through habit and conditioning. In the same way, if we practice turning our mind toward the Divine, we can replace that identification with unity with God instead.
A simple but powerful practice: Decide to remember God’s Name every day—when you wake up, before going to sleep, and before meals. Make it a rule in life. This will prove incredibly beneficial.
