There’s no point in wondering how one will attain God name just by saying as per his wish. In fact, it’s more accurate to say that without saying “wish name,” meeting only God jiis impossible. Even in day-to-day life, we observe the same thing. Suppose you want to travel to a village. You reach the station and describe everything about the village, but can’t recall its name — will you get a ticket? On the other hand, even if you don’t know much about the village but at least know its name, you’ll get a ticket and be able to go there. This shows that knowing all the details is useless if the name is forgotten. So, even if everything else is done, if the Divine Name is not remembered, it serves no purpose. That’s why taking the Divine Name is essential. One must have the firm belief that the Divine Name will indeed lead to God-realization.
The need for the Divine Name arises in two ways: first, to understand the nature of worldly life; and second, to attain God. Even if one has enough to eat, a family, a home, and all material comforts, we still feel anxious and restless — but we don’t understand why. This shows that we don’t truly know the root of our sorrow. To realize this, the Divine Name is necessary. Until a deep yearning for God arises, repeating the Name is essential. Later, when one realizes there is no support other than God, the Name must still be remembered. Eventually, after experiencing God’s presence, the Divine Name arises naturally and effortlessly. In the end, from beginning to end, only the Divine Name remains. One who remembers the Name and stays connected to it will, over time, develop a natural longing to know God. Just take the Name for the sake of the Name itself — you’ll discover that Ram is indeed in it. Trust that whatever happens while taking the Name will be good for you and lead to your spiritual well-being.
The Divine Name itself is the embodiment of truth, consciousness, and bliss. One who forgets their own identity in the remembrance of the Name is truly free while living. That’s the real goal of human life. Everything else is like a dream — it seems real but isn’t. Our sense of identity with the body has formed through habit and conditioning. In the same way, if we cultivate the habit of reflecting on God, our sense of identity will gradually shift from the body to the Divine.
12. Make it a daily rule: chant the Divine Name when you wake up, before you sleep, and before every meal. This will prove to be immensely beneficial in life.
